Day Tour to Bartholomew Island
The tour begins when you are picked up at your hotel at 06:30 am, travel the road to the upper part of Santa Cruz Island, arriving at the Itabaca Channel. Where we are picked up by a rubber boat that will take us to the boat that will take us to Bartolomé, the navigation is approximately two hours, this island is located northwest of Santa Cruz Island.
Bartolomé is a secondary volcanic ash cone belonging to Santiago Island. The visit comprises the first part in two parts; It is a dry landing at the pier and we will walk along an ecological trail (wooden bridge) we will climb approximately 370 steps. There are 4 viewpoints where we can rest drinking water and observe a panoramic view. Upon reaching the top of 450 feet above sea level (masl). We will have a panoramic view of the center of the Archipelago we can see the Santiago and Santa Cruz Islands and if the day is clear to the northwest we can observe the Marchena and Pinta Islands.
The second part of the visit comprises a wet landing on a golden beach, which is remnant of volcanic ash and coral. Here we will find nests of sea turtles, migratory birds and on the coast, frigates and pelicans. We can do a swim from the beach in shallow waters for beginners, or if you have more experience you can swim around the pinnacle. In all this activity we will have the opportunity to observe sea lions and maybe Galapagos penguins.
